The GriffinHarte Foundation abides by the following policies.
Grants
If you receive a grant from the GriffinHarte Foundation and are unable or unwilling to complete the project as specified in the grant and the official acceptance letter, you are required to immediately return and repay all monies granted to you for that project.
If you misrepresent yourself, the individuals or agencies you propose to work with, the need for the project, the description of the project, and/or the means you will use to carry out the project, you are required to return immediately all monies granted to you for the project.
You may not spend the monies granted to you for reasons other than those stated in the grant application and the official letter of acceptance.
Publications
Although we encourage submissions of ideas, essays, conversation topics, and the like, the GriffinHarte Foundation offers no guarantee that those items submitted will be accepted for publication on our website.
If you desire to publish materials that have been published on our website, or accepted for publication on our website, in other venues, we ask that you include in that new publication a formal statement indicating that the work, or a portion of it, has been previously published on the GriffinHarte Foundation website. We also ask that you include such a statement to the new editor, publisher, outlet, or source of publication as that work is being considered for acceptance.
If a series proves to be especially popular, once it is no longer on our website or is housed in our archives, we may pursue formal and hardcopy publication outlets for portions or all of that series. However, there is no guarantee that a submission published on our website will be included in those formal and hardcopy publication efforts or the final published product.
The Donor Bill of Rights
Philanthropy is based on voluntary action for the common good. It is a tradition of giving and sharing that is primary to the quality of life. To ensure that philanthropy merits the respect and trust of the general public, and that donors and prospective donors can have full confidence in the nonprofit organizations and causes they are asked to support, we declare that all donors have these rights:
To be informed of the organization’s mission, of the way the organization intends to use donated resources, and of its capacity to use donations effectively for their intended purposes.
- To be informed of the identity of those serving on the organization’s governing board, and to expect the board to exercise prudent judgment in its stewardship responsibilities.
- To be assured their gifts will be used for the purposes for which they were given.
- To receive appropriate acknowledgement and recognition.
- To be assured that information about their donation is handled with respect and with confidentiality to the extent provided by law.
- To expect that all relationships with individuals representing organizations of interest to the donor will be professional in nature.
- To feel free to ask questions when making a donation and to receive prompt, truthful and forthright answers.
Donations, as well as requests for specific projects, must be offered and consistent with the goals, philosophy, and mission of the GriffinHarte Foundation.
